Step by Step In Writing Essay

1. Determine the type of essay

There are different types of essays, some of the most common are narrative, argumentative, expository, persuasive, comparative and literary. Determining the type of essay is an important start for writing a targeted essay.

2. Select a topic and create an outline

We need to structure our ideas before start writing essay. First, we need to find a topic, then list all the points or arguments we want to make according to that topic. Next, list the facts, examples and statistics that support those points or arguments. An essay outline will guide us through to the finished product and organize our thoughts about the topic.

3. Compose a thesis statement

A thesis statement declares the topic and expresses the viewpoint we are going to prove in the body of the essay. This statement should be as specific as possible and address one main idea, we also need to reiterate it in the conclusion.

4. Make an introduction of the topic

Introduction paragraph is an important paragraph, it should discuss our main idea or what the essay is about. The introduction also needs to grab the reader’s attention with interest and clarity. We can use surprising facts, a quote or an anecdote to capture the reader’s attention.

5. Write the body of the essay

The body of the essay contains the arguments and information, it provides details for the points that we listed in our introduction. Every main idea is to be discussed separately, each paragraph explains only one main idea. 

6. Present the conclusion

The conclusion is the last paragraph that summarizes the essay. This part must contain some striking sentences in a clear and compelling manner because it creates the last impression for the reader. We can also restate the main ideas we have discussed in the body of the essay.
